Spoiler-aware guide

Official scope

Hawks and custom recruits carry the flexible layer

EA says Hawks can be customized by combat specialization and appearance. Custom recruits extend that control across their look, equipment loadout, and abilities. The official gameplay overview specifically identifies appearance, clothing, voice, and name as creation choices.

Identity

Choose the custom character's name, voice, appearance, and clothing options offered by the creator.

Combat role

Choose or change Specializations for Hawks and custom operators, then match the role to an appropriate Weapon Class.

Company shape

Recruit custom humanoids or Astromechs at The Den to cover roles the authored cast does not currently fill.

Patch-sensitive: this page explains officially documented categories, not an exhaustive catalogue of every face, species, color, armor piece, or slider in the current build.

Before confirming

Build the job before polishing the look

  1. 1

    Name the missing squad role

Decide whether the company needs healing, long-range access, control, durability, economy support, or AP generation.

  2. 2

    Choose humanoid or Astromech

Use the body type that supports the available abilities and the Star Wars identity you want; do not assume every talent is shared by both.

  3. 3

Select Specialization and Weapon Class together

EA treats them as separate decisions: Specialization defines role and abilities, while Weapon Class changes how the weapon performs.

  4. 4

    Set identity and appearance

Choose name, voice, species or body options, clothing, armor, and colors shown by the current creator.

  5. 5

    Record the working build

Allocated points can be refunded, but a screenshot makes experimentation easier to reverse.

Combat identity

Eight Specializations define the tactical job

EA documents eight Specializations. Each provides a combat role and abilities; Ultimate abilities are the largest payoff, Standard abilities are activated during combat, and Passive abilities provide ongoing effects. Some abilities cost AP, while special actions can spend the squad's shared Advantage.

Official community Q&A

Clone armor starts as a look; a full Clone squad unlocks later

Bit Reactor says operators can use and customize Clone armor appearances from the beginning. Clone helmets can also apply a voice effect. Actual Clone troopers unlock after reaching a later point in the story, making an all-Clone squad possible.

This distinction matters: wearing Clone-inspired armor does not by itself turn a custom operator into an authored Clone character or change the character's mechanical identity.

Spoiler-aware: the official answer confirms a later unlock but does not require this guide to reveal the mission or story event.

Cosmetics and support

Use the Character Databank for Deluxe items

  1. Create an Operator or Astromech. EA says the Deluxe items become available through the Character Databank after creation.
  2. Check the relevant appearance category. Deluxe content is cosmetic rather than a separate combat inventory drop.
  3. If it is missing, wait 24 hours. This is EA's published support step.
  4. Escalate with proof of purchase. Use EA Help if the entitlement still does not appear.

Do not unlink accounts, delete saves, or install a community file to force an entitlement refresh.

Confirmed boundaries

Customization does not rewrite the authored campaign

Authored TalentsFixed to their characters
Some authored SpecializationsCannot be changed
Overall storyLinear from start to finish
Squad-dependent momentsSome scenes can vary
Romance systemNot included
Custom operator respecSupported through build changes

The official Q&A explicitly says there is no romance system and no branching story route. Appearance and roster freedom should not be read as a promise of romance paths or a fully branching RPG campaign.
