Two operator types, two different jobs
Authored operators
Named story characters with unique talents, companion scenes, bonds, and campaign-specific content.
Custom operators
Humanoid or Astromech recruits hired at The Den terminal. Use them to cover missing roles and staff Operations.
Your build layer
Talents, universal options, and specializations can be reallocated. Later progression can open a second specialization.
Epic's launch guide says allocated points can be refunded freely. That makes early experimentation safer than abandoning a good recruit because the first build felt awkward.
The seven story operators

Tesh Hawks
Fearless LeaderRaises the other operators’ assist damage, defense, and accuracy while deployed.

Trick / CT-3301
For My BrothersCan recover automatically on the turn after being downed; upgrades improve the recovery.

Tel-Rea Vokoss
Strong in the ForceBuilds Harmony each turn, increasing lightsaber deflection and attack damage.

Cly Kullervo
Combat LeapJetpacks to a target point, displacing enemies and applying burning.

Luco Bronc
Combat GasGains Keen Senses stacks that improve his accuracy.

Jae Mordant
Final ShotAssists attacks against low-health targets and can finish them immediately.

Kabb Uppercut
UppercutA frontline bruiser whose signature talent is built around his namesake melee strike.
Source note: talent names and effects are official except Kabb's detailed combat effect, which the localized page did not expose in our capture. We therefore identify only his officially named “Uppercut” talent and avoid inventing numbers or conditions.
Jedi, Clone, custom lead, and romance questions
Who is the Jedi Padawan?
Tel-Rea Vokoss is a recruitable Togruta Jedi Padawan. Her Strong in the Force talent builds Harmony, improving lightsaber deflection and attack damage.
Is there a Clone operator?
Trick, formerly CT-3301, is the authored Clone veteran who has served alongside Hawks since their time in the Republic military.
Can Hawks be customized?
Yes. EA lists name, species, appearance, clothing, voice, combat Specialization, and loadout choices among Hawks' flexible layers.
Can companions be romanced?
No. Bit Reactor's official community Q&A says Zero Company has no romance system and no branching story route.
Some story moments can change according to the deployed squad, but the overall narrative remains linear.
The eight specializations
Specializations behave like classes. A recruit starts with one, and later progression can add a second. The job labels below are concise planning shorthand; exact talent choices depend on the current patch and your squad.
Assault
Pressure and close-range tempo
Gunslinger
Flexible sidearm offense
Heavy
Durability and heavy weapons
Medic
Healing and ally support
Scoundrel
Opportunistic utility
Scout
Mobility and advantage generation
Sharpshooter
Long-range precision
Soldier
Reliable general combat
Useful universal talents confirmed by Epic
| Talent | What it contributes |
|---|---|
| Built-in Comlink | Astromech-only AP support for allies. |
| Sabotage | Detonates an explosive object on the battlefield. |
| Taunt | Redirects a target and reduces its damage. |
| The Bigger They Are | Bonus damage against elite and boss enemies. |
| Espionage / Thievery | Extra intel or credits after completing a mission. |
| Grit / Anticipation | Defensive layers through invulnerability or evasion. |
Pair talents that solve different failure modes
Hawks + Trick
Squad-wide reliability plus a self-recovery safety net. A sensible learning core when the rest of the lineup is experimental.
Hawks + Jae
Hawks strengthens assists while Jae helps finish weakened targets. Prioritize shared sight lines and clean focus fire.
Cly + Tel-Rea
Cly changes positions and applies burning; Tel-Rea rewards turns long enough to build Harmony. Protect the melee approach rather than rushing both forward.
Luco + a spotter
Accuracy scaling is wasted without target access. Pair Luco with mobility, advantage, or battlefield control that gives him a clean lane.
Respec when the mission problem changes
- Change a build when two operators compete for the same job and another need is uncovered.
- Keep a reliable generalist until the roster has enough depth for specialists.
- Use custom operators to test a missing class before rebuilding a story companion.
- Check whether a second specialization complements the first instead of duplicating its best action.
- Record a working build before a large reallocation so you can restore it after testing.
